The model is presumably a C4, a model that was very popular in France and Belgium in the 1970s and 1980s.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vintagefiets.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Motobecane-C4-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5205\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vintagefiets.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Motobecane-C4-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vintagefiets.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Motobecane-C4-01.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.vintagefiets.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Motobecane-C4-01-980x552.jpg 980w, https:\/\/www.vintagefiets.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Motobecane-C4-01-480x270.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1000px, 100vw\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Motob\u00e9cane was a very popular bicycle and moped brand from France that went bankrupt in 1984 and was bought by Yamaha. With the acquisition, the name was changed from Motob\u00e9cane to MBK.&nbsp;<br>Motob\u00e9cane sponsored, among other things, the popular cycling team BIC from 1969 to 1974, with which Jacques Anquetil rode in the last years of his career. The Dutchman Jan Janssen was also part of this team.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, the professional teams La Redoute Motob\u00e9cane also rode Motob\u00e9cane bicycles, the Lotto Super Club in 1990 and the Cofidis team of Frank Vandenbroucke on MBK bicycles.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Mass production of the sporty models<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Like the Peugeot bikes, these racing bikes were made in large numbers with popular, inexpensive components. Ideal for the amateur or sporty cyclist, but not comparable to the professional racing bikes that the professional team La redoute Motob\u00e9cane rode at the end of the 1970s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vintagefiets.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Motobecane-C4-03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5207\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vintagefiets.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Motobecane-C4-03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"563\" height=\"1000\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vintagefiets.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Motobecane-C4-03.jpg 563w, https:\/\/www.vintagefiets.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Motobecane-C4-03-480x853.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 563px, 100vw\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This racing bike is a mix of components: Maillard, Weinmann, Ava, San Marco, ... The frame is built with the very popular Reynolds 531 tubes that guaranteed a very good price - quality ratio.<\/p>\n<p>Striking is the typical bar tape that consists of practically 1 piece and on which Motob\u00e9cane had a patent in collaboration with Hutchinson. Also note the Ava stem which was not full but with a cut.
