In 1945, the Italian former cyclist Marcello Faggin founded his own bicycle brand Faggin Udine. Meanwhile, more than 80 years later, they still make road bikes manually and the love for steel bikes is still in 1st place. Faggin is still a family business where quality is of paramount importance. When you see a Faggin bicycle, you immediately see the special care that has been taken in the details.

In the meantime, they still make steel bicycles (about 40% of the total production) but also aluminum, titanium and carbon bicycles. No mass production but only on request and tailor-made. This ensures that they only make about 40 bicycles per year.

The start of Faggin bikes

In 1945 Marcello Faggin started assembling steel bicycle frames in a small workshop in Udine. Marcello was born in Padua but had moved to Udine because there was more work there. Initially he didn't make racing bicycles but ordinary everyday bicycles. After the war, the bicycle was the pre-eminent means of transport and there was great demand for it.

In 1947 Marcello returned to Padua where he founded his own workplace until 1985 when he died. Since 1974, Faggin has been led by Massimo, husband of Cristina, Marcello's youngest daughter, who learned the trade at the age of 14, assisted by Marcello.

Roland Liboton on a Faggin

Faggin is not really known in the professional cycling environment, but there are still well-known names who once rode a Faggin. The first professional cyclist was Aldo Zuliani in 1951 and the most famous was undoubtedly the four-time cyclo-cross world champion Roland Liboton who rode a Faggin with Carlos decals on it.

At the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984, the Italian National Team used the Faggin Air time trial bikes and it seems that Mario De Clerq also won a Cyclo-cross World Championship on a Roger De Vlaeminck frame, but made by Faggin.
